Puppy Information A puppy must not be a spur-of -the- moment decision. They are not to be given as a present, played with and then discarded. A puppy needs some stability in his /her life and is not intended to teach a child responsibility. The adults in the household must BOTH want the pup and be willing to accept the responsibility of feeding, housebreaking and obedience training while the children may help with the grooming, walking etc. A puppy shouldn't be given as a gift unless the intended recipient is in agreement and can make the selection. A puppy needs a lot of rest and can no more be trusted not to bite or scratch young children than young children cannot be trusted not to try to pull ears, tails or accidentally injure or drop the pup. Both situations require adult supervision at all times and if parents are both working and cannot devote the necessary time perhaps a goldfish is a better choice under the current circumstances.
A puppy may leave puddles or worse on the floor, shed hair on the carpets and furniture and may chew on just about anything including electrical cords if left on their own. A puppy is not able to accept harsh discipline or training methods. A puppy is not an adult and when he comes to his new home he is the equivalent of a child of less than one year in his requirements and needs.
