I guess a few of these birds were started in 2005 and completed in 2006. That would apply to the courting cans, teal group, wood duck drake, buffie, mallard drake, black drake and open mouth one piece low head pintail drake.
The ringnecked duck and drake wigeon were started and completed for I.W.C.A. competition in late 2006 as well as a World's CDC entry in April 2007. They feature my latest techniques for texturing and are completely painted with a glazing technique seldom found on working birds. The World Shooting Rig entry of a Brant goose swimming into a pair of common eiders was worked on in the winter of 2006 and spring of 2007. Once again I felt an entry into the World Championship Shooting Rig competition was sufficient justification to utilize texturing and glazing painting techniques usually found on high end decorative carvings.
I also completed two entries for the California Open in February 2007 and a mail in pool entry for Westlake Ohio during the winter and spring of 2007. For the California Open I decided to try a new medium with the palm frond carving of a swimming drake harlequin drake. For the pool contest in Westlake I made a cork and tupelo high head alert canvasback drake. Both of these birds have recently sold.
